I’m No Mooch – Part II

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline”

II Timothy 1:7 (NIV).

I talked last time about the gift we were given with a little extra money and how I wasn’t sure if I was being wise with its use.

I made the decision I didn’t want to shop in fear and God wouldn’t want me to either. Instead, I shopped with confidence. In addition to the things on my list that needed to be bought, God provided some of our staples at drastically reduced rates so I could stock up for the future while saving additional money. I found a beautiful present for the recipient on my list at a price I think God placed on the item Himself. Throughout the entire process, I thanked God instead of felt guilty, praising Him for providing the extra money when we needed it most. And, I even came home with money left over to tuck away for the next emergency.

Just as my parents are happy when we accept their invitations to go out to eat, God is that much more happy when we place our trust in Him to provide for our finances. And I’m finding it’s much better to remember my place is as His daughter instead of feeling like I have to beg for handouts from Him.

I want to encourage you today. If you have made the decision to follow Christ and allow Him control of your life, you don’t have to beg Him for help. No – as His child, He’s waiting to rescue you from whatever your circumstance. He just wants us to ask, with confidence.
