Are You God’s Option for Someone?

“Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing.” II Timothy 2:21 (NIV)

I’ve been talking for the last couple blogs about inconveniences with options versus real tragedies and how God reminded me of the difference.  I realized during our last “life inconvenience,” one of the reasons for the peace I felt was because we did have options.  And some of those options were in the form of individuals who were willing to step into our “messy” and help us do life.  They were willing to give of their time, their finances or their support and that makes all the difference when people are dealing with tragedies or inconveniences.

Our family is blessed.  I spoke a few years ago about when I was given the opportunity to travel to California with my aunt to watch my dad win an award.  Our trip out to California was all kinds of eventful and you can read about the entire trip in Spoken from the Heart: The Adventure Continues. During that exciting adventure, my sister and my aunt both willingly went out of their way to show love and provide support without thinking twice.  Then, during our recent inconvenience with options, my sister again stepped up and helped me navigate different options, things she was experienced in that I wasn’t, in order to help our family make the best decisions possible.

Have you considered the possibility that you might be God’s option for someone during their inconvenience?  I started thinking about that.  Our family has been so blessed to have so many friends and family step up and be there for us during tragedies and inconveniences alike.  And we want to be there for others during their tragedies or inconveniences also.

It could be something simple like a meal, a few dollars, some financial or other advice, sweat equity helping with a major (or minor) project or maybe just a listening ear at the right time.  It doesn’t have to require a lot of your time, but maybe sometimes it will.  When we make ourselves available to God for Him to use us in the ways He wants, we have the ability to help change someone else’s life and our lives will be changed at the same time.

Have you considered being God’s option for someone?  Have you told God you’re available and willing?  If you have, get ready, because from my experience, God is waiting to use you in the lives of others… He’s just waiting to hear from you that you’re available.

  1. Thank you. This is exactly what I needed to learn today. I often feel like I am the one being supported during difficult times, and I rarely think of “stepping into lives of others” to make a difference. Now that I have read your post, I am praying that I am available and willing for God.

    1. Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing that. I wish I could take credit for that insight, but God is the One who showed me and made me think…

Blessings to you – have a wonderful rest of your day. Hope to talk to you again soon.

      in Him,

      Cheri 🙂

    2. So i wanted to reach back out and ask if God has given you opportunities to “step into the lives of others” and make a difference? I would love to hear testimony of this if you have any.

Blessings – have a wonderful rest of your day.

      in Him,

      Cheri 🙂
