“I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Isaiah 61:10 (NIV)
I read the verse above the other day and was felt convicted. Because I have chosen to accept Jesus into my heart and I am now a daughter of the King, I have been given the robe of righteousness. I have the assurance of going to Heaven when I die, and I have access to so many of God’s blessings here on earth to when I choose to obey His commands. Obedience to God’s word opens the door to His blessings. God’s unconditional love can never be taken away.
As God’s child, why do I allow the stress of life to take away from the joy, peace, and love God has freely given to me, to share with others? Am I a good reflection of God to others around me … or does my life look like someone who doesn’t live with the hope of salvation, the peace of Jesus living inside me, and the strength and guidance from the Holy Spirit.
I realized I have to ask God daily to fill me with His joy, peace, and love so that I’m an accurate picture of life as God’s daughter looks like. Because sometimes, if I saw me, I would think twice about choosing the life of a Christ follower. It would repel me instead of invite me to check out how Jesus’ salvation could change me.
What about you? Maybe you have a different opinion you would like to share. I’m ready to listen.
