Making the most of everyday moments …

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of standing in the kitchen getting dinner ready while one of our kids was next to me making a batch of brownies to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I was able to help guide the process when there were questions, but mainly we were talking, enjoying each other’s company.

It was during that experience that I realized I wasted too many years “delegating” jobs and having our kids “figure it out themselves” when I could have been working alongside them, close enough to help out when needed, but more so soaking in and enjoying their company.

I’m glad God woke me up this year to the time I wasted and nudged me to make the most of the time I have left to enjoy these simple moments.

I plan to take advantage of as many “moments” – both while working side by side as well as having fun together as I can while they still want to spend that time with me.

What are some special times you’ve enjoyed with your kids? They probably don’t involve “working,” although maybe they do. If you’d like to share, I’d love to hear.
