“An average human looks without seeing, listens without hearing, touches without feeling, eats without tasting, moves without physical awareness, inhales without awareness of odour or fragrance, and talks without thinking.” Leonardo da Vinci

I have always lived life at Mach10 speed. Not proud of it, not a fan of it, and this year, during our shelter in place, I had the chance to reset some of those habits and recalibrate, at times, to a slower pace.

Now I think before automatically going from one job to another, one task to the next, and ask myself, “Is there something I could/should be doing differently instead?” “Should I, can I push away and make memories with my family instead of plowing ahead since I’m exhausted?”

I’ve made the choice to look up more often, appreciate the little (and big) things in life, make memories with family and cherish my time here instead of rush through life waiting for “later” to invest in people I love, activities I might enjoy, and find new things that put a smile on my face.

What about you? Do you look without seeing, listen without hearing, touch without feeling, eat without tasting or move without physical awareness of what’s around you? What’s one thing you can do differently to truly enjoy the life you’ve been given?
