I’m praying blessings over your week today. We’ve been talking for the past several posts about how to focus on God’s Promises instead of life’s problems. Today I want to talk about asking God for a specific verse/word from His Word (the Bible) and how that can help us focus on His Power and miracles.
Six years ago God gave me a verse (Exodus 14:13-14) talking about how He was going to fight for me: I only needed to be still. I didn’t completely know what that meant but I did know I had a lot of areas in my life that I needed His help with: fear of winter driving, fear in general, depression, and other issues as well. I chose to repeat that verse daily and when I repeated it back to Him, thank Him that He had the answers and was doing the fighting for me.
Throughout that six years, God healed me completely from a fear of winter driving, healed me from depression and then seasonal depression, and has fixed other areas in my life that I knew He could in His time.
He has given me other words (verses) throughout my life as well. One season He gave me the verse, “Be still and know that I am God,” Psalm 46:10; another season He gave me, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19).
God wants to do the same for you…for your individual situation. Get quiet and ask Him for a verse, a word from His Word that is personal for you and your situation. Then, when (not if) the enemy tries to make you doubt that God spoke to you about your situation and is working it out for the good of those who are called according to His purpose, you will have your verse (word) to stand on and say, “No, you can’t make me doubt because God gave me this promise from His Word to stand on, and God doesn’t ever go against His promises.”
What’s one situation you want to ask God for a word/promise for in your life today? He’s waiting for you to ask and He will answer.
