My Review of Autumn’s Harmony:
Autumn’s Harmony, by Donna Wyland, was a story I enjoyed. For full disclaimer, there were some swear words sprinkled throughout the beginning of the story, which surprised me since it was listed as a Christian fiction book. I understand why the author chose to put them in there; however, I think she could have gotten her point across without having to use them.
It seemed as though the author told me the whole story in the first chapter. I found out immediately what her secret was, the state of her marriage, her feelings of personal discontent, and her relationship with her children. While the telling didn’t bother me, it could have been sprinkled throughout the book and I would have enjoyed that approach as well.
Part of me sympathized with Anna; part of me wanted to shake her by the shoulders and tell her to appreciate what she had been blessed with. I absolutely loved Vicky and the wisdom she shared (especially as she showed, and shared grace).
I was happy to see this is the first book in a three book series. I’m excited to see what is going to happen with the family as they continue on their journey. One disappointment I had, though, was that the author didn’t disclose where Anna’s daughter was headed with her friends. I would have liked to have had that piece of the story revealed.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit but was not under any obligation to write a review. All opinions are strictly mine.
