Fathers

I am blessed to have two great fathers in my life: my biological father and my father in love. My husband, whom I’ve been able to watch raise our kids with me for the past two decades, is an amazing father. (And an amazing husband to me which is also a great example for our kids.)

My husband has always been involved, leading our children in the ways of God, making fun memories, whether here at home or annual trips for us to remember through the years, and will drop everything to help our kids if needed.

Today, on Father’s Day, I’m thankful for the time we have to spend with our dads. Reminiscing about past fun, creating new memories currently, and with the anticipation of future memories to come.

I have been blessed by two fathers who love God, love family, and have taught me to love others well through their examples.

I’m also blessed by kids who love their grandparents, honor my husband as their dad, and want to spend time with us.

To those of us who’s dads are still around – may we savor the times we have and intentionally make memories together.

To those of us who’s dads are no longer physically present – know that they are proud of you and love you. What’s one memory you have where you felt your dad’s love?

To those whose memories of their dads aren’t healthy or loving – I’m so sorry. Please know that God was there with you during those times and ask Him to show you how He was taking care of you when it hurt the most. Make the choice to forgive your dad. It’s more for you than for him.

Happy Father’s Day to my dad and my dad-in-love. I’m truly blessed to be your daughter. And I’m blessed with three kids who are proud to call their dad, “dad.”
